THE TENSION RESONATOR
SYSTEM
Another exclusive invention, which only Mason & Hamlin pianos feature.
The tension resonator is a tight truss rod system, which completely binds the entire piano together - Preventing it from shrinking or expanding and losing its "crown" over time.
The "crown" of the soundboard is under a great deal of pressure and is actually forced into a slight concave shape. This is how the
vibrations can be transmitted so freely.
When a piano gets older, they may lose their crown, thus the sound and tone quality can diminish.
